Ginkgo "Family" Leaves

Many Ginkgo leaf commissioned drawings center around unique found leaves. This one was a personal project. A client had a ginkgo tree in their yard. When the tree turned golden yellow and the leaves fell to the ground, he remembered some of my work and thought it would be great to have a drawing to gift his family that featured leaves from his tree. We collaborated on this theme and decided to center the drawing around 4 unique leaves. One representing each of his immediate family members.

Read my post about the ginkgo tree and the leaves and why I love to incorporate the ginkgo into my work in many ways.

I enjoyed this project immensely. Below is the result of the 4-up personal art and I also included a large single leaf from my collection. I was able to get a glimpse of the wall the art would be hung on and felt a large single leaf would be a great addition to the 4. And this is a friend of mine and I shared the story of pressing flowers and leaves with my Mom when I was little. Which lends to the style in which I draw leaves today - why they are always flat. Something personal from me.
