Artists Notes:
The concept for this piece is rooted in my personal experiences and researched observations of the ideological divid in the United States affecting, to some, dramatically, the very core family life: Togetherness. Communities, friends, and extended families have always been able to hav debate and discussion on ideological topics in our history. This is nothing new. The pendulum of the division or separation of church and state continues to swing, but we face a more extreme moment today. This observation of the hard stances being drawn between families members has hit home in a direct way. While we maintain an inherent connection to our country and where we come from, the “how” we ought to live our lives according to a narrow belief system has become sharper and more criticized, to the point policies and law as are beginning to reset the terms. Thusly directly affecting loved ones that my oppose these changes, causing rifts in a families ability to stay connected and support each other. Resilience and openers is more necessary now that in any recent years in my memory.
