In collaboration with wildlife photographer, Erik J, a portrait of a Juvenile Tricolored Heron. Erik: “This Tricolored Heron spotted me and flew off before I noticed it. Luckily, it flew to a nearby branch and struck a regal pose.” Erik’s original photo I used for reference here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DBycTczRJFh/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
allaboutbirds.org: A Juvenile Tricolored Heron is long-necked with a sharp bill. Juveniles have a reddish neck with spots of reddish feathers on their wings and upper back. A breeding adult will mostly be dark except for it’s distinctive white belly and white wing linings. Flies with its neck tucked in and legs trailing behind.
